Community Hosting is an independent guide to the organisations, shelters, outreach centres, domestic-violence services, hosting programs and housing initiatives helping people in need find a home — in Australia and across the world.
Help exists — but it's scattered across thousands of services. We bring it together so people in need, supporters and would-be hosts can find it fast.
Filter verified organisations by category, country and whether they run a hosting program.
Learn how households open a spare room to someone in need — and who runs these programs.
Crisis lines and domestic-violence support you can reach right now, day or night.
Key data on homelessness and housing stress, with links to primary sources.
Community Hosting began with a simple question: if so many homes have an empty room, and so many people have nowhere safe to sleep, could we connect the two?
That idea is already real around the world. Trained, vetted hosts open a room — for a night, a few months, or longer — to young people, refugees and others at risk. Welfare agencies provide referral and support, so it's safe for everyone involved.
An everyday household with space to spare signs up and is screened.
A support service matches a person in need and stays involved throughout.
Stable accommodation and a positive reference help rebuild confidence and independence.
This directory grows with the community. If you run or know an organisation, shelter or hosting program helping people find housing, we want to include it.
